WEN India in association with WICCI, Karnataka visited -Anegundi Hastakala Pravasodyama
It was a very enriching experience that we had at Anegundi Village at an immersive event – Anegundi Hastakala Pravasodyama organized by the Wen India and Karnataka WICCI (Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry), on 24th April, 2022.
The event introduced the delegation to the homegrown crafts practised by the women of Anegundi. The crafts provide employment to the women making them financially independent and more empowered.
The women make items like baskets, bags, hats, fashion accessories, etc., using locally available raw materials including Banana Fibre, Water Hyacinths, and Tamarind Powder.
The meaningful employment generation for women has ushered in socio-economic development in the village and fostered more social awareness and education opportunities.
Anegundi is a crafts village, with tremendous potential to be developed into a full-scale sustainable rural tourism destination.
After a wonderful interaction with the skilled craftswomen of Anegundi, it was time to visit one of the iconic monuments of Hampi, the Vittala Temple, where the famous stone chariot stands as a glowing tribute to the master craftsmen of the region.
