Bengaluru: The Bangalore Bruhat Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has conducted a major operation across the city’s Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Eastern zones to clear footpath encroachments and remove unauthorized flexes and banners.
The move follows numerous complaints from the public, highlighting how shops, hawkers, and street vendors were obstructing pedestrian paths, causing inconvenience to walkers.
In response to these complaints, the BBMP took action in Ward 109 of C.V. Raman Nagar, where they cleared pushcarts and illegal banners blocking the footpaths on 2nd Main Road, Kasturinagar, providing relief to the public.
During the operation, officials, including Assistant Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineers, and Health Inspectors, were involved in the drive. Unauthorized banners and flexes were also dismantled as part of the action.
BBMP authorities have issued a warning to vendors who repeatedly block footpaths, emphasizing that their goods will be confiscated if they continue violating the rules. Moreover, they have directed ward engineers to impose fines on those putting up illegal banners.
