New Year Brings Relief: Price Cut for Commercial LPG Cylinders

Starting January 1, 2025, commercial LPG cylinder prices see a significant reduction, offering financial relief and a positive beginning to the New Year for households and businesses alike.

On the first day of the New Year, the government has provided relief to the public by reducing the price of 19kg commercial LPG cylinders. Starting January 1, 2025, the price of commercial LPG cylinders has been reduced by ₹14.50. Previously, on March 1, 2024, the price of domestic LPG cylinders was also reduced. Typically, oil marketing companies decide the prices of LPG gas only on the first day of each month.

From January 1, 2025, the new prices for a 19kg commercial cylinder are as follows: ₹1804 in Delhi, ₹1756 in Mumbai, ₹1966 in Chennai, and ₹1911 in Kolkata. Earlier, the price of a commercial cylinder in Delhi was ₹1818.50. Domestic LPG cylinders are currently priced at ₹803 in Delhi, ₹829 in Kolkata, ₹802.50 in Mumbai, and ₹818.50 in Chennai. The last price reduction for domestic LPG cylinders occurred in August 2023, when prices were slashed by ₹100, and no changes have been made since.

Price Cut After Six Months
This price reduction in commercial LPG cylinders comes after six months. Before January, commercial LPG cylinder prices had been rising continuously from July to December 2024. During this period, Delhi saw an increase of ₹172.50 per cylinder, while Kolkata and Chennai witnessed an increase of ₹171, and Mumbai saw a hike of ₹173.

Price Cut for Commercial LPG Cylinders

Past Reductions in Domestic Cylinder Prices
The last significant reduction in domestic LPG cylinder prices was in March 2024, when prices were reduced by ₹100. Earlier, on August 30, 2023, oil companies had announced a ₹200 price cut, bringing the price of domestic cylinders to ₹903. Following this, in March 2024, prices were further slashed by ₹100, offering relief to households across the country.
