The fare revision affects four transport corporations: BMTC, KSRTC, KWKRTC, and KKRTC. These corporations had initially proposed a 40% fare increase, citing rising diesel prices. The decision was made in response to the continuous increase in fuel prices, the rise in operational costs, and staff salary hikes.
Notably, BMTC fares were last revised in 2014, while KSRTC, KKRTC, and NWKRTC fares were updated in 2020. Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy explained that the fare increase was unavoidable due to the rising costs of diesel, spare parts, and wages for staff members.
