Bengaluru: Amid increasing buzz in media circles about a potential television venture, journalist Satish Raj Goravigere has confirmed that discussions are underway. While acknowledging that a project is indeed in the pipeline, he clarified that it is still in the planning phase and not something being rushed.
Who is Satish Raj Goravigere?
Satish Raj Goravigere is a Bengaluru-based journalist and media founder who entered the field of journalism over 12 years ago. In March 2019, he launched the Kannada-language news platform Kannada News Today, which earned Regional Award by Cultural Organization, focused on grassroots reporting, civic issues, and regional stories.
In 2025, he expanded into English-language media with the launch of Timesnib, aimed at reaching wider audiences across India. Known for his ethical reporting and public-interest journalism, Satish has earned recognition including the Rajyotsava Honor (2023) and the Media Contribution of the Year Award (2024).
TV Channel Launch in the Works
Speaking about the proposed television project, Satish Raj said that while preliminary discussions have been ongoing, building a channel requires considerable preparation. “This isn’t something that can be done overnight,” he said. “If all goes well, we’re aiming to launch the channel on January 26, 2026 — Republic Day.”
His remarks come after several regional media reports hinted at a forthcoming TV channel under his leadership. Responding to the speculation, Satish said, “Yes, we are working on it. But this kind of project needs time. It’s not about launching for the sake of it; the intention is to build something meaningful.”
The digital platform Kannada News Today, which he founded in 2019, started as a small-scale regional initiative and has since grown into a trusted news outlet with a focus on community-driven content.
Editorial Expansion Underway
As plans for the TV channel take shape, organizational changes are also being implemented within the current editorial setup. Recently, Satish B Gudagenatti was appointed as Senior Editor. A known public figure in North Karnataka, Gudagenatti contested the 2018 Karnataka Assembly elections from the Belagavi Rural constituency. His political and editorial experience is expected to add depth to the newsroom.
“These shifts reflect our larger goals. We want to deepen our regional coverage, especially in areas that often go underrepresented,” Goravigere said.
While the television channel remains in its early stages, insiders suggest it will continue to reflect the core values that have shaped Goravigere’s media vision — civic issues, local voices, and public interest.
“We’re working toward a long-term vision. If everything comes together as hoped, we’ll share more in due course,” he concluded.
